Dr. Patrick Mason is President of the California Foundation on the Environment and the Economy (CFEE), a non-profit institution that works closely with the California State Legislature and State and Federal regulatory agencies to develop consensus on energy, environmental, telecommunications, and economic growth issues. The foundation, based in San Francisco, is a non-partisan coalition of business, labor, environmental, and community leaders in California. Dr. Mason has directed all foundation activities, including strategic planning, issues development, conferences, and study travel projects since 1984.

Prior to joining CFEE, Dr. Mason worked as a research economist at the AFL-CIO under then President George Meany, and was Research Director for the California Labor Federation, AFL-CIO. He also was the Chief Economist for the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) before starting his own economics consulting practice in 1982.

Dr. Mason has published in the areas of regional and urban planning, industrial development, energy and labor economics. Appointed to the Economic Development Commission by Governor Jerry Brown and the Military Base Re-use Commission by Governor Pete Wilson, he graduated from Santa Clara University in 1969 and received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1978. He has also served as President of the San Francisco Chapter of the National Association of Business Economists and was a Director of the California Security Bank.

He lives in San Francisco with his wife Chris Bjorklund. They have two adult children, Molly and Dan.
